I have been issued the Ice Bucket Challenge by my nephew Jimmy LaBombard. Thank you very much for allowing me to participate in this event. I live in an area where there is a high rate of ALS, and it is my understanding that the surviving members of Doug Knights band, Three Doug Knight will be performing this in unison later this week as a tribute. Also, there was a 50 person event at the Johnny Nixon fastpitch tournament in Ausable Forks yesterday. Both very fine tributes. Also, someone I graduated from high school with suffered from this terrible disease. So Frank Standarski, you have been the most active participant in the CCHS Class of 1969 facebook page, so I nominate you to take up the cause and participate in the challenge. And for the local area, I nominate the 2 Rotary Club presidents, Ellen Bouchard, and Cheryl Lesser. It would be great if you could do it together! Of course, if you are reading this, you do not need to dump ice water over your head to donate. But it has been great at calling attention to this terrible disease. I am not foolish enough to believe that this challenge will be enough to wipe out the disease, however if we can contribute to the research, provide treatment for those who are suffering now, and maybe in the future find a cure, then at least we are doing something. OK, so enjoy watching me get soaked.
