I have been looking into the Berrien County Transportation Authority proposal that I saw last week at the Commission meeting. It seems more like an advertisement for centralized planning and power than a solution to our transportation issues. I found a good general description of the importance of transport economics. Pay special attention to the regulation and competition and project appraisal and evaluation sections. bit.ly/1zp7PjB I have to wonder if the commission even knows there is an entire field of study devoted to the economics of transportation? I dont know if they asked for either an appraisal or a cost benefit analysis but I didnt see either in the 220 page plan presented at the meeting. bit.ly/1rVZcuc Personally, I would invite the private sector to become involved on this process. Companies like Students First should be asked to offer their perspective, and maybe even a bid proposal for services. bit.ly/1nVOJxg I believe in the private sector. I support private business over government bureaucracy. I do not support more centralized power in Berrien County. We need less government not more.
