I have been pondering a few things as of late, both positive and negative and I felt compelled to put some thoughts into words. This might be a little long so I will break it up (so no one falls asleep), lol. Locally the huge turmoil seems to be the decision in Ferguson, MO that has led to more violence and criminal acts as of late. Riots, fires, assaults, criminal mischief have all led the activiation of the National Guard, deployment of every law enforcement office possible in the area, the overtaxing of the 911 Telecommunictaors and the excessive burden placed on fire and ems personnel in the area. All of this over the fair decision made by a group of our peers. By our peers I mean human beings like you and I who were tasked with the difficult assignment to listen to and review ALL discvorery in this horrible event. Please do not get me wrong, there is a level of sorrow for the family of the man who was shot that day, no one denies that. But the events since this tragic shooting have done nothing more then show that an angry society will find any reason to riot and cause an uproar, spread hate and discontent whenever possible. Demonstrators actions have done nothing to bring closure to the offenders (yes I said offender, casue that is what he is) family, but cause more people to jump on this band wagon of spreading hate and raising hell simply because it is their right to do so. Tell me what good has come from the senseless protesting in Ferguson or any other communitty? NONE! Having been in the professions I am in, and have been in for many years, it never surprises me to see how extreme society can over react at times and not for the good of all involved. How many riots, fires, thefts or major chaos events have you seen on the news that law enforcement officers, fire fighters or emergency services personnel started to protest the killings of their brothers and sisters in this very tight knit community? Should there be a riot or nationwide protest supporting the 106 police officers killed this year? How about a protest calling for justice for ALL emergency services personnel who where killed or injured at the violent hand of someone? NO...you will never see that. WE are expected to hide our grief, go on about our shift, pretend there is nothing wrong for the next 8, 12, or 16 hours until we are free from our duties of the day and THEN maybe we have the ability to go home, hug our familes, talk to co-workers, or just hide and deal with the events of day alone. In the case of the dedicated in Ferguson, they are are not granted that luxury, they are expected to pull themselves up by their boot straps and go back out and protect and serve the community they took an oath for, even if that means putting behind them their own grief, to deal with those who are finding pleasure in rioting, all at the cost of others. One hundred six police officers were not able to go 10-42 this year. The officer in Ferguson could have easily been number 107. But his quick thinking saved his life that day, and possibly the lives of others who could have been harmed by this violent offender. God bless this man, he had to make the hardest choice any law enforcement officer will ever have to face. I hope at some point and time, the chaos across the country stops. No one is doing anything positive to support the survivors in the Brown family or to bring awareness to whatever cause they think they need to promote. I found this verse and felt it was fitting..... Ecclesiastes 7:9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. Be thankful for all your blessings this holiday season and keep all emergency services, law enforcement and telecommunications staff directly and indirectly involved in this chaos in your prayers.
