I have been reading up on different sauerbraten recipes in Germany.So I will be posting some different recipes and the history. Here is the one my grandma made, it seems close to the Rhenish style. I havent read a German recipe yet that uses Gingersnaps, that must be an American addition. Do you have a favorite style? Ingredients; 4-pound lean beef roast 1 cup flour Marinade; 2 C. red wine vinegar 2 C. red wine 2 C. water 1 large onion, sliced 2 bay leaves, 3 cloves, 10 peppercorns or *sauerbraten gewurtz sauerbraten spice gravy 20 gingersnaps Directions with the recipe. kitchenproject/german/recipes/sauerbraten/
