I have been researching Irish shields in the early 1400 AD era. Several are large ovals or square like the one shown. My question is about the spear hook. If thats what it is. I havent seen many fighters utilizing this hook. I intend to create a shield for my persona. Do any knights use this type of shield and have advice on proper combat utilization?
