I have been tasked with finding the right candidate to represent Trinidad and Tobago at Miss. World 2013 in Indonesia in September. I have a very difficult job as time is limited. I can do this in two ways- spend precious time seeking sponsorship to host a local pageant which would be televised or simply have a screening and a rigorous selection process to find the right candidate. While I appreciate the effort that The Miss. Universe T&T franchise is making and I applaud their investment it has to be understood that this franchise came to me a week ago after another interested party withdrew and left T&T without any options for 2013. I am going to incur a lot of anger and venom from the general population and pageant fans but in order to ensure that we have the best possible chance of winning I may have no choice but to do a selection which will be very public and unbiased.
