I have been through 3 jaw reconstructive surgery procedures in the last 4 yrs. Some of you are aware of this. It has not been an easy time for me. I have had to walk around, through various awkward stages of my healing, with noticable facial assymmetry and swelling. The actual pain from the procedures seem less in comparison to the self consciousness I have felt. I am someone who in the past, has made money on my appearance through my modeling and acting .so you can imagine, these last few years have been quite an adjustment for me. Im here posting this today, however, not to complain but to say that despite all of this, these past few years have been a great period of growth for me. Im much less concerned with how I look at all times, its freeing actually and my human intetactions have touched me on a deeper level as a result of this freedom. I had the last of my procedures just last week and it looks as though the universe is giving me my wish finally. As the swelling disipates daily, im starting to see the face i saw in the mirror ten yrs ago before this whole ordeal. Im finally looking like me again and I am so thankful!! Its all finally coming together. I have a bramd new appreciation for the face I was born with. Just when I thought I would have to embrace looking different than I once did because of my condition, my healing took a turn and starting giving me back my old face. A face that a lot of people scrutinuzed because of the industry I was involved with. Even as pretty Devon, I wasnt happy with how I looked all of the time. Now I am! Never again will I pick myself apart about how i look.
