I have been trying to not post about a whole bunch of political stuff anymore, but this crap is just too much. As I am currently in the process of trying to evaluate which part of the world to invest in in the future, it makes me wonder where the US will go from here. Compared to 20 years ago, we have already pissed away about half our economic power an the majority of good-will and trust and admiration the rest of the world had for us. Now things have improved lately. Business is up. Unemployment is down. The deficit is down. But somehow, people still think everything sucks. So now we put nut-jobs like these two dimwits in these positions?!? Look: You wanna do bible things? Fine. Work for a church. You want to do Chairman of the Environmental Committee? Then you need to have an f-ing clue about the environment. You wanna be Chairman of the Science and Space Committee? Well, it would seem that basic scientific literacy would be a precondition, but it apparently isnt. Perhaps the majority of the population doesnt follow what the scientific community is doing, and perhaps the majority of the population doesnt like to read scientific magazines (a bummer in itself, really). But let me clue you in: The scientific community does NOT debate whether global warming is real and man-made. They have instead moved on to studying why a percentage of the population can be dismissing what is clearly backed up by data and accepted by the scientific community as a whole. What is it with people who a hit in the head with data, yet completely fail to see the pattern? That is what is currently being studied. (So if you doubt global warming is real, then I have news for you: You are now the subject that is being studied... give that some thought). Anyway: Go ESA - European Space Agency! Well done!
