I have been vegan and rescuing animals for the last 19 years. In 2001, the opening of The White Pig B&B and Animal Sanctuary was a culmination of combining my desire to rescue animals & promote a vegan diet. I am very proud of the work that have done, by saving so many animals and turning some of my guests onto a vegan diet/lifestyle. Roughly one year ago, my life took a dramatic turn. You might say that I hit the wall do to several personal issues that had finally come to a head. I was forced to take a long, hard look at my life and make some huge amazing changes. You know the old saying, “We don’t grow when things are easy, we grow when we face challenges.” One, sadly enough, was the ending of my chapter at The White Pig. Although I am still open and operating the bed & breakfast and sanctuary, I know that my involvement is in its final stages. Over the last year I have pursued many new ideas & spiritual practices that have altered my view of the myself, and all the other beings I share this wonderful planet with. I have traveled to Europe and the Middle East and met so many interesting, unique and amazing people. And because of this, I have a very different way at looking at the world around me. I am truly a different person than I was a year ago. So I thank the universe for bringing me the challenges it has. I am more than ever dedicated to promoting a healthy, vegan diet. I was always into healthy, vegan eating, however, I may not have always practiced the healthy part. I was never much into fitness, I lived an active life, but I wasnt into going to the gym. But one of the things that helped me through my transitions was working out at the gym. I started mostly as a way to tamper my anxiety (which was mostly do to fear of change). However, as time went on, I became fitter, healthier, more active, got my head on straight and just plain looked better. Which take me to one of the new chapters of my life. Vegan Fitness. There continues to be much prejudice about building muscle on a vegan diet. I am just beginning to train to compete in fitness competitions. The general populace still believes that this must be a heavily protein based endeavor. I, on the other hand, continue to believe that I can build lean muscle on a vegan diet, which will is 70% carbs, 20 % protein and 10% fats. Not only am I interested in dispelling this myth, but I also want to encourage other people to try this with me. So here is the reason I am sharing this all with you. I am so excited and optimistic about entering into Vegan Fitness World. I was thinking it might be nice to share my progress, tips, routines, diet, recipes, etc with all my White Pig fans, if you were interested? If this is something you would like me to do, please leave a comment or like below. Super excited! Dina Brigish PS- I will be doing vegan consulting & coaching for individuals, restaurants, and corporations in Jan. 2014. More of this to come.
