I have contacted Hellens & Sunderland Council this morning - TopicsExpress

I have contacted Hellens & Sunderland Council this morning regarding the much debated multi purpose games area. In short Hellens will be required to submit a planning application to the council. This has not been done as yet. I was unable to speak to Hellens planning officer Gavin Cordwell-Smith to clarify when the application is likely to be made, due to him being on holiday. As per TFRA update from Hellens this is likely to be submitted over the coming weeks. Once the application is submitted, the councils planning dept will write to those neighbours who they think may be affected by it, but this depends on the judgment of planning officers, Nonetheless, you can object to any planning application, whether or not you have personally received a letter informing you of it. You can see when an application has been made by visiting the councils website. sunderland.gov.uk/online-applications/ You can post a comment & track the application. The way to object to the Council about a planning application is to write to the Planning Department, either by post or by e-mail. The following are the grounds on which planning permission is most likely to be refused (although this list is not intended to be definitive) : • Adverse effect on the residential amenity of neighbours, by reason of (among other factors) noise disturbance, overlooking, loss of privacy, overshadowing, etc. • Unacceptably high density / overdevelopment of the site, especially if it involves loss of garden land or the open aspect of the neighbourhood • Visual impact of the development • Effect of the development on the character of the neighbourhood • Design • The proposed development is over-bearing, out-of-scale or out of character in terms of its appearance compared with existing development in the vicinity Obviously the more people who object the more effect it will have. This is not intended to attract further comments / opinions or prolong the debate. hopefully it clarifies the situation and puts a much needed end to it. Emma Swan
