I have contemplated how to comment on the Federal Cabinet - TopicsExpress

I have contemplated how to comment on the Federal Cabinet reshuffle as it impacts the Early Years Sector. All I can say is that I thought it would be hard to get someone less capable than Sussan Ley who seemingly had no clue at all about Early Childhood Education and Care. Yet we now have a Minister representing us who has a history of disregarding the need of the most vulnerable, asylum seeker children. We are meant to accept that this man will have the best interests of families and young children at the forefront of his thoughts? Moreover, we now have a Government who has decided that education does not occur before formal schooling by shifting the responsibility for ECE from the Education to Social Services portfolio. There is no silver lining to tis story as I can see it, other than hopefully the wider public will now realise how inept this Government has been in so many areas and these latest actions will seal their fate at the next federal election. Then again, will the alternative offer anything better? We will have to wait and see about that. At least their spokesperson for our sector actually knows about what she is responsible for and has advocated for us in the past. That has to be a positive if they get elected. This may make little sense to my overseas followers, but believe me this country is sinking to new lows in how it caters for our youngest citizens and those who care for and educate them.
