I have finally recovered enough from Saturdays Buenaventura Art Association 60th anniversary party to write an FB entry about it. It was a great bash, with excellent food, excellent wine and beer, and a bunch of slightly unbalanced people (aka “artists”) out to have a good time. It worked. Artists, it turns out, really get into napkin doodling. Should have seen that coming, I guess, but I was fairly busy getting not-quite-pickled. The next day, I only had to worry about what Id said at the very end. Perfect! The door prized were terrific. I won two tickets for an Island Packer trip of my choice. 7 people scored a pair of tickets to the Comedy Club for $10, one-third the going rate (Jan and I got one of those as well). All good. The art that was raffled was nothing less than awesome. When the raffle began, the energy of the crowd was electric. There were, I think, 68 pieces, so scores of people took home a real treasure. They won original works of art worth about 50 – 100 times what the lottery ticket cost them. Man, there were a lot of happy people. Check out the smiles in the accompanying pix.
