Round 5 FB’ers, I like it. Cutting to the chase. How does GT feel about guest playing? Excellent question. My opinion? Let players play! If a player from my team wants to guest play, I say go for it! As long as the player isn’t too physically tired and has an appetite for more soccer, then let him/her do it. Again, if the player isn’t too tired, why shouldn’t players be able to guest play whenever and wherever they want? Let’s think about it: 1) Will experiencing a different soccer environment with a different coach and different players help the guest player adapt to new soccer environments in the future? MOST DEFINITELY. 2) Will the guest player get to listen to a different coaching style and possibly a different tactical perspective from their current coach? MORE THAN LIKELY. 3) Is widening the guest player’s circle of soccer friends a bad thing? DEFINITELY NOT. 4) Will the coach from the team he/she is guest playing for try to recruit the guest player? PROBABLY. 5) Will the guest player enjoy the atmosphere of the guest playing team better than his/her current team? POSSIBLY. Which of the above questions is a solid argument for NOT allowing guest playing? Question #1, #2 or #3? No, all good reasons to allow guest playing. Question #4? If my player can be easily swayed to join the guest playing team, I need to become a better coach and create a better soccer environment on my team. Question #5? If my player enjoys the atmosphere of the guest playing team more than my team, then the guest playing team is a better match for my player anyway and he/she should try out for that team the following season. Bottom line…guest playing is a good thing. Keep the questions coming… Ill keep the answers coming...pedaling as fast as I can. See you at tryouts... (Galaxy staff flying in on Friday)
