I have found myself in a bit of a quandary, so I decided to come - TopicsExpress

I have found myself in a bit of a quandary, so I decided to come to all of you and ask for some feedback. We have discussed many times the need to maintain an unbiased platform. There is not a single group alone that has the strength to impose term limits on the US Congress, without their approval, using the second option in Article 5. We must work together. With that being said, here is the issue. Society as a whole has been hearing “Congress is corrupt” for so long that for many they simply accept it when they hear it, feel there is nothing they can do, and it goes in one ear and out the other. We can point out the incredibly disproportionate number of millionaires in Congress. We can point out that their average net value increased significantly during the recession, while the average American’s net value dropped. These examples demonstrate how lucrative it can be in Congress and can imply clearly that they are obviously using Congress as a self-serving business career. But, to hammer this home, we need to also provide an example of their actions that will open people’s eyes. Before dedicating this page to our effort, I was involved in a number of hot topics. While researching one, I discovered information that is NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE and paints a very ugly picture of both parties in Congress. It is information that neither party, nor the media, has EVER discussed. It is the PERFECT example that I feel we need, but I’m afraid it will open the door to a great deal of biased input. What I am going to do is throw the information out to those of you that have already joined this effort before creating an image/article that will go out to many pages. Let’s see if we can focus on the corruption angle of both parties, without turning it into a biased brawl about the topic itself. The topic is Obamacare. What most of America doesn’t realize is that the original intent of Obamacare was to expand Medicare to include a non-profit healthcare insurance option for all Americans. They had Milliman perform an actuarial and feasibility study to evaluate the concept. The final report from Milliman concluded that the Medicare option could be run for 1/3 the administrative cost of the private industry. Based solely on the existing premiums, not including the expected increase in numbers of users, the Medicare option would have saved Americans $67 Billion annually. In addition, due to the size of the plan, Medicare would have created a very powerful negotiating position with the pharmaceutical and healthcare products industries. The negotiated costs would have easily double or more the expected savings from the premiums. The report also concluded that the private healthcare insurance industry was currently operating at an 80/20 split. With the Medicare option, Congress had the opportunity to save Americans $130 to $200 Billion annually in medical/medical insurance costs. Following the Milliman report, over a five-year period the Healthcare Insurance Industry and the Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Product Industry sunk over $2 Billion in lobbying, party contributions, and campaign contributions. The result was that instead of saving Americans $130 to $200 Billion annually, Congress passed an Act that forces Americans, under tax threat, to purchase a service from a private industry, at the industries current profit margins. Both parties were bought. As I said, this is the perfect example if we can stick solely to the fact that Congress was bought off. Unfortunately, as I also said, Obamacare is such a hot topic right now that I don’t know if we can use this without having a political brawl. This is not about the Republican party trying “now” to de-fund it. It’s not about whether or not Universal Healthcare is a good idea. THIS IS ABOUT CONGRESS BEING BOUGHT OFF BY LOBBYISTS, KNOWING THAT AMERICANS WOULD PAY THE PRICE. I would really like to hear your thoughts on this, but PLEASE DON’T ATTACK THE PRESIDENT OR EITHER PARTY. Let’s talk about the corruption. One last comment. If this turns into a brawl, this post will be deleted.
