I have gotten this question a lot. How did you get into art and do you have an art background.....Yes, I have an art background but I did not pursue it. I drew, painted etc. But, I chose a fast lifestyle that headed nowhere. I found Nail School by accident and attended only because a good friend wanted to go. I thought i can do this.....but I couldnt. I was very bad at nails. It took me over a year (i think maybe 2 years) to learn to do decent acrylic work and even longer to get MY art to look good on nails. I worked until 2am and 3am many nights in Las Vegas and worked on women who were very unkind at the beginning of my career. I worked until my fingers would bleed (my right index finger still bleeds when I am very busy and you will see it with a bandaid) and it was when I painted nails that I got lost and found JOY and all of my worries went away and that is what I am trying to teach here. I became more confident over the years and I could turn this into a book, but---It wasnt my art background that made me nail artist, it was my desire not to give up and work in dead end jobs that gave me no joy. I never was popular but I found family in the shops I worked in. I would never change and wish I became a famous artist first because when I show my painting on canvas, I will be proud to say that they were created out of my experience with nail art. :D My love to you guys and I hope this answers some of the questions I am getting on youtube and here on facebook.
