I have heard that DOE is considering adjusting # student days due to our unusual severe winter. This idea is a great one but should also adjust teacher contractual days as well since our professional educators need time to recoup, take summer classes, visit cultural locations that will enhance the learning in their classrooms, build family memories, enjoy camps and vacations . Parents as well as teachers have paid nonrefundable deposits for summer activities. Teachers are very valuable professionals and work for limited compensation. We need to encourage college kids to enter the field of education - not scare them away by extending school years into the next one. I understand that suggestions can be sent to the DOE to glendaritz@ritz4ed. Lets hope that days for all can be adjusted as teachers will work very hard to do what they do so well - TEACH!
