I have just completed my first week in my second post graduate - TopicsExpress

I have just completed my first week in my second post graduate degree in Philosophy here at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. What an awesome blessing to study the great minds of the Western Tradition. My courses this semester are Ethics, Philosophical Methods, the Philosophy of Immanuel Kant, and the History of Western Philosophy. In each class we have been discussing philosophical approaches to epistemology-the study and theory of knowledge. Is there a difference between knowledge and certainty? In the ethics course we are discussing moral truth of goodness as it relates to religion. Does one have to be religious to be moral? We have been reading the writings of the great Scottish philosopher David Hume and his theory of causation-effect relationship that can only be experienced through empiricism. We have been further discussing what is the nature of reality? Plato and Aristotle metaphysical grounding of epistemology and ethics? The philosophical tradition makes you defend your beliefs grounded in the epistemic justification of faith in ultimate reality-we called God. Stay thirsty my friend!
