I have just received 1000s of photographs and negatives of coal mining from Northumberland to County Durham. 80 % were taken from an NCB Photographer. Just thought i would share this one to begin. Underground at Broomhill Colliery, its a very early image but look at the lad on the left at the coal face he is smoking. This is a very unusual photograph and smoking caused many explosions underground when coming into contact with gas.
