I have learned a lot about love. What I thought it was. I remember how naive I was when I thought it was a feeling and nothing more. When I thought I loved things. My 64 bug. A perfectly roasted marshmallow. The comforts of home. Then I realized I had no clue. I met someone whose smile with her crinkly nose lit up a room. Whose childlike impishness was infectious. And who made my family her own. And I quickly realized that although I had already liked her for about 10 years - I felt something more and wanted more. I was always good at actions. Tell me what needed done and I would do it - but I knew I needed to do something special with this one. I knew I needed to make her part of my life. My breaths in between breaths. And I finally kissed her. I remember thinking woo hoo Ive got a girlfriend but it felt different. When she left that one Christmas I felt alone. I was going through a time of uncertainty in my career choice but I knew I had found her. Lets call her the Chosen One. I knew I could give her my heart. I knew she was worthy. I had little money for a ring but I knew I could give her my heart. Love is and has since then been a verb to me. And my journey into the unknown with her couldnt be more fun. Laughter, tears, sickness, health gains and losses. And it continues. I know it is more complete with a partner like her. I know how proud I am of who she is and what she gives to her family. I know shes the right one because love is a verb to her as well. I know that the world has moved into glancing into lives via social media - but nothing beats glancing into the eyes of the one you love and who loves you. She is a keeper. And tomorrow is 25 years together. We will celebrate with two other special people to us in Whistler this week. A Storybook Love all in its own -some would say and have said- it was INCONCEIVABLE.
