I have learned about the ISIS crisis and Middle East chaos from listening to the British House of Commons meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron the past two hours than I have in months of American media and my own research. Most impressive - everyone - *all sides* - are talking. To one another. Emotionally, but respectfully. Talking facts, not party. Talking about the best interest of everyone, not parroting partisan BS. Talking about the disaster that was Iraq from the Bush/Blair years and, homework done, what each believes must be done now. Cameron seemed more acquiescent than Ive seen him before, listening more. And the place was packed. Unlike the American congress where no one shows up or they leave for vacations, everyone showed up for this discussion. Its obvious that, no matter what point of view the elected representatives brought to the energetic, vociferous meeting - each and every person wants the best not only for Britain, but the world. Earnestly. I could only shake my head, knowing how bloody partisan and ignorant American politics have become with less than HALF the knowledge and facts brought to bear in the meeting at the House of Commons. Which leaves the president on his own. In the UK, Cameron made it clear that he wants to do what the nation supports through their representatives. Said one person, You know that this will be a 15 year campaign, requiring long term investment, long term planning. The government needs a better strategy, and a better way to sell it to the people, because so far its a poor job and they dont understand it. Domestic policies were also discussed, dealing with terrorists in their midst, while protecting Muslims who have nothing to do with ISIS or terrorism. Amazing. No tax-cutting for the wealthy, etc., etc., etc. Just what is in the best interest of our nation and and the world, how can we *best support the military personnel who will be out there on the front lines now and when they return.* In short, unlike the US conundrum that is currently the state of our government.
