I have lived in vicksburg most of my life. It bothers me when I hear people bad mouth it. The people of vicksburg rise together when there is a tragedy. We come together in times of need. Yes , there are some bad neighborhoods , but there are bad areas in all cities around America. I love this city. If you dont like it here, then move. No one is making you stay here. We have made progress , but it takes everyone to make something a success . Vicksburg has really sweet people. It all depends on where you are going. Vicksburg isnt just downtown. Downtown is more promoted toward tourist anyway. Vicksburg has great neighborhoods. Vicksburg isnt just an area , it is a community. Yes, there are thugs that dont want any better , but that doesnt define the citizens here. Mississippi as a whole always gets a bad reputation. I just get tired of hearing people put it down.
