I have lost 27 pounds since last August. I didnt starve myself or join a gym. I barely exercised! I did not subject myself to a diet program. The success is due largely to pure determination, education and a great iphone app, My Fitness Pal. Check it out. I actually saw it featured on a morning news segment as a helpful dieting tool. Of course you can check it out on line, as well. I have nothing to sell but feel compelled to share this little success story for my friends who know the same dieting struggles. Even if you dont respond I KNOW the battles of being overweight. Each persons battle is different. Along with the food and health issues comes the embarrassment, lack of confidence and the host of other mind twisting conditions that are difficult to cast off. I have a lifetime history of being an overweight woman. The only difference now is being overweight AND 53! If I take heart to some of the commercials, Im extremely terminal! lol We all are. It was time to take control of what I can. Ill go down trying. If I was to brag about something it is the fact that I was able to lose 13 pounds between Thanksgiving and now. I dont call it dieting. I prefer to call it food management. The app keeps me educated on the food I eat. I count calories. With the My Fitness Pal app, I consider it like a bank account. Some foods cost more than others. This is all it took to keep me on track. I probably break a lot of diet rules but it works for me. Yeah!! First, I weigh when ever I want. Second, Im not a food snob. I dont like for people to tell me that I CANT eat certain foods. I love all food except turnips. If I want to eat some food that tops a black list in the diet books, I eat a smaller portion; count and deduct the calories on the app and SMILE with satisfaction. Third, Im not a fan of salad ALL the time. I like salad. I like warm proteins and carbs more. My salad food is consumed between two slices of Sara Lee Delight bread, two slices of turkey lunchmeat blended with two tablespoons of light salad dressing. Yum! Im positive I break other rules but like I said, I know what is working for me. I am still 25 pounds overweight and plan to continue what I know is working. The big change I will do is exercise when I can. Thats a bit of a challenge giving our upcoming move to Missouri and our doctor appointments for Bobs treatments. Almost forgot- Im taking advantage of the walking track near the doctors office where Bob is receiving his treatments. My choice is to walk or sit in a the waiting area staring at the box of donuts and coffee. The loaded bits of calories- they wont stop talking to me so I escape their snare. I have been strongly compelled to share this. Even if one person takes one suggestion to heart, then I pray thats all it takes to spur your own weight management journey. Good luck!!!
