I have never not loved this song. My father first introduced it to me when I was very young and long before I understood things like the unique time signature I wanted to play like Paul Desmond. Or Dave Brubeck. Or whatever. The song just grabbed my imagination and wouldnt let go. As I got older and fully understood just what a breakthrough this song is it got me interested in stretching my own abilities in the music I wrote. It got me interested in unusual time signatures and the ability for a song to be so good that it transcends the very thing that sets it apart from 90% of all music. So thanks.
