I have never really being a fashionista, in fact I could not care - TopicsExpress

I have never really being a fashionista, in fact I could not care less about what I wear and how I look, but then over the years I have developed a deep and profound respect for people who have paid and still pay attention to such things. This is without hubris, and is not in any way being snide to this people. I really do have a healthy admiration for such people. Maybe I was one of those born with a natural predilection to unfashion, whatever is trending or in vogue never seems to slightly touch, talk less, tickle my fancies. Therefore I must have some kind of deference to people who can do something I just cannot do even if I try to try. I usually in my case do not bother. The Redefinition CU Fashion show is arguably the best Fashion show organized by any University in Nigeria, I would go all out and say Africa, we have had the likes of Lanre DaSilva Ohimai Atafo, Uche Nnaji, Tolu Uploaded, Obi somto, Luto Tailo, in fact the who is who in the fashion and styling business in this continent grace our events. I recant my word arguably, and replace it with undisputedly. It looks very weird, why an unfashionista would give a damn, about a fashion show or even slightly allude to it. But then a small group of intellectuals, fashionistas, stylists and entertainers called the P&M (CU student press) of my Alma mater have been responsible for organizing this fashion show in the last 4 years including this year. I was a member of that group of people throughout my undergrad studies in that school. As a member of this group I had the honor and privileged to work with and for, officially, 3 great women. They were my leaders, taking the official position Press Secretary. Gogo Obiesie, Adjua Lyniee Akinwumi and Edima Usoro. Today I attended the Redefinition 2014 (MONOCHROME) event and once again I was called up to service, and once again had the very rare privilege of serving, unofficially under yet another great woman Favour Umanah the current secretary. One thing that I find consistent with all these great women is that they all left very big shoes for their successors to fill, and without a doubt their successors filled the shoes of their predecessors perfectly, and enlarged it for the next successor. They all rose to the occasion adequately when circumstances and situations demanded it. Today was indeed a great day for Redef 2014, planning committee, and I am most honored to be part of it. I once again saw Julius and Inimfon, the Redef Tom and Jerry Archtype, in another puerile altercation, which just made me laugh at the nostalgia rushing through my veins at that moment (they would understand). In the end it was a beautiful show. The highlights of my day today, were seeing Seun, Obianuju Ndaguba, Temii Olusola, Unyoaba Faith Etu, Nefertari O-s, Favour. So the best thing happened today, I saw a girl in front of Lydia hall in the morning (Jeez, not really rocket science, but if I saw a boy, then it might be strange)..... That is not my point though. I remembered seeing her 2 years ago as an undergrad, I think I met her briefly at the Tidola Photography stand during one trade fair like that. She was the makeup artist in residence there. But that time I was not necessarily “wowed” by her work, really, that time! She had no makeup on, she was perfectly natural, not even a slight touch of lip gloss when I saw her this morning (Hence my point on seeing her in the morning in front of her hall). Then I saw her in the event hall, all made-up, it was the most beautiful thing I had, and have ever seen on anybodys face. I literally had to go and introduce myself. That amateur I saw in Tidola stand, had become a professional beyond imaginations. The Wonders and Miracles TONI THE ARTIST can wrought on a persons face, would make Tara Durotoyes stellar works look like that of a baby trying to do mosaic designs, when compared to Picasso (who is in this case TONI). I was speechless, when trying to describe her work, I had to make cautious efforts not to creep her out, because the beauty that pervades her work is ineffable. A new language has to be constructed from the ground up with describing TONIS work being the sole ambition of the Linguist in charge of such an epochal task. I am beyond certain Aphrodite would need beauty tips from TONI. The previous paragraph may seem incoherent. It is because the underlying operations of my brain were having serious latency issues trying to comprehend the inherent splendor in TONIs Work. And by the way, I do not do Panegyrics because they most of the time sound flattery-ious, and it would be a disservice to all these awesome people to be obsequious. I only speak the truth. Truth, from the soul, because I do not seem to know where truth can come from, except from ones heart. Because if that is not truth, at least from ones perspective and subjective view then I do not know what truth is. But for now, Press and Media, and Redef, are the TRUTH..... Of course and TONI remains the TRUTH.
