I have not felt this proud of Greece since the 2004 win for the Euro tournament. We might not have the magical rosters of Portugal or Brazil, but we have the soul and the pizzazz to make for some dramatic games. Greece passed through Spain, France, Czech Republic and Portugal in the final in a year where European soccer clubs reigned supreme in the world. We were dubbed pirates that year because we stole the tournament away from the biggest names in soccer like Zidane and Ronaldo. We may or may not pass the round of 16, but todays win in stoppage time has certainly brought back some of the best days of my life. 2004 also marks my last year in Greece, the last year my family was all together.
