I have not heard a single ambulance sound in Conakry for almost 24 - TopicsExpress

I have not heard a single ambulance sound in Conakry for almost 24 hours of my arrival here. I have not heard any song on Ebola on the local radio stations here. There are no road-blocks, no massive billboards, no temperature checking machines, no ban on public gatherings. Taxis are overloaded, mini buses are jam-packed and there is no panic as we have in Freetown. Business is ongoing as usual and there is no ban on public holidays. This is the country that western journalists and scientists said the first case of Ebola in the region originated. Could this be the place where the first case of the Ebola epidemic that is claiming countless lives in Sierra Leone and Liberia came from? Are we not missing something in this story? Tomorrow, I am traveling to the south of Guinea where the first case of the Ebola virus was reported. More details on my travels and experiences will be made available soon.
