I have not mentioned this before...... November 10th I found out I had tongue cancer, the doctor said it was probably from smoking all of my life. The doctor first performed a bigger than normal biopsy to remove a tumor, it was malignant. I then went back for surgery to remove a big piece on the side of my tongue with a laser, they then sent it to the lab for further testing, the surgeon said if the piece they remove shows cancer going to edges of the piece they will have to remove 12 to 25 lymph nodes in my neck and shoulder area, after they see the results in the lymph nodes the doctor will decide if they can do radiation or decide if is too far gone to do anything, I guess they dont do chemo with this kind of cancer. I couldnt eat or talk correctly for two days, Im still in pain but getting better each day. Good news came yesterday.... I was told yesterday the piece they removed from my tongue a week ago had no more visible signs of cancer, I will still have to get my lymph nodes checked checked monthly ( It could come back).......Healing now, one day at a time....Even though I quit smoking in 2005 its still in my system..... Luckily my dentist at my six month cleaning noticed a small white patch on the side of my tongue, I didnt feel anything until he pushed on it, he told me to see a specialist for a biopsy, Im glad he seen it before it got worse. Im now telling you all this so maybe it will make some of you think of quitting smoking......You dont want to hear the word cancer from your doctor. Jesus is with me no matter what, this gives me strength in whatever comes my way. God bless you all.....
