I have not updated my Facebook family/friends concerning my cancer in awhile. Currently, I am out on Medical Leave, started July 2nd. I am in the throws of pulmonary therapy. I go twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. I am pretty tired and usual sleep in the afternoons after my therapy. Why pulmonary therapy? Well, I will need a pleurectomy (removal of the lining surrounding one lung) at some point in time, and my right lung, and what is left of my diaphragm, must work properly and fully to support such surgery. When I came back from the Mayo Clinic in May, I chose to not think about the future or about what is to come. At my doctors appointment the end of June my primary care giver brought it home when he basically stated that I had not come to grips with the severity of my situation. He stated that my oncologist will, at some point, come to me and say the cancer has increased in size to a point where surgery is needed. He then asked me the million dollar question: then what are you going to do? He brought it home for me. No more waiting for the right time. No more thinking about others and their plans. No more putting me at the bottom of the list. Now is the time to focus on me and getting me healthy and ready for said surgery. If I do not get my health (my body, lungs and diaphragm) to where it needs to be, then when surgery is a necessity I will be unable to have the surgery. And, I will be in no shape to improve my health the have the surgery at that time. Ive learned that when you are some one like me, putting yourself first is not easy. Its not easy on my friends, family, co-workers and community members. But it is something that I must do. And, I am getting great support from my family, friends, Wells Fargo family and members in my community. Thank you all for you continued prayers, well wishes and juju juice.
