I have nothing against Tiger Woods. I dont even follow golf, but I remember reading an article a while ago about the medias use of the word bravery to describe Tiger Woods fighting through an injury and winning one of his Masters titles. The article went on to compare the bravery of hitting a ball into a hole while injured to strapping yourself into the belly gun of a bomber plane and fending off fighter planes while fighting the Nazis (especially knowing the high mortality rate of belly gunners). Many men and women honored on this day showed bravery that few will know, experience, see, or commit. These people may have been terrified almost to the point of helplessness, but they defeated fear and some willingly embraced death (possibly laughing or smiling as they did) for the sake of others or a noble cause…and so we could hit a ball into a hole if we wanted. Please remember this, and them.
