I have observed World Music Day listening to a programme of Vidushi Gauri Pathare last evening at Nehru Centre. Gauri’s interest in Hindustaani classical vocal music was aroused by listening to her mother, Dr. Vidya Damle. She later on followed in her mother’s footsteps by receiving extensive taalim for several years – initially from late Padmashree Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki and thereafter from Pandita Padma Talwalkar till date. This training blended in her the gayaki of Jaipur, Gwalior and Kirana gharanas. Vocalist of mesmerizing melodies, She has made several musical tours to USA and European Countries. Yesterdays programme was the shortest classical programme I have ever attend around 35 minutes but I must say it was one of the best programmes I have ever attend. She started with Raag Lalita Gauri (25 minutes) and a Dadra(10 minutes). She sang so beautiful (THE REASON FOR HER SHORT PRESENTATION IS THERE WAS ANOTHER VOCAL PROGRAMME AND ALSO SITAR PROGRAMME OF PT. KARTICK KUMAR/SHRI VIJAY GHATE). Her voice is very nice surila. she has shown varities of different types of Taans which are just excellent, the speciality was there was no repetition. Her Dadra was presented very softly and nicely. In a word it was really a classic presentation. Wish her a very happy World Music day!!! https://youtube/watch?v=76LJvCAo7s8
