I have posted these images before, but we have so many new friends, I thought I would give it another shot. I always say You cant make this stuff up well...perhaps this would be Wow, you dont see that every day An eagle swimming is not common, this birds unfortunate spill, and my very fortunate chance to be standing nearby, gave us an image of something you may never knew happens. 34 degree Bering Sea water, 29 degree air. I have seen eagles swim other times, and they all show an amazing determination. They never flail, or act panicked. They stroke with their wings, and I estimate their progress through the water to be similar to a human swimming . You can see the water beading up on the top of the feathers. I have been told they do not get wet, unless they are in the water for too long. This Eagle swam about 200 meters to a rocky, snow covered shore, climbed up on the highest rock, opened his wings into the bitter cold wind, and sat there for 2 hours. I froze just watching him. I later watched him preen and flap, and take off after two hours! In conditions, attempting this for a human, they would be a goner in a matter of minutes. I call these images Determination They show us once again, another trait that inspires us. #JackMolanPhotography
