I have referred before, to the careers classes I taught. In that class, we talked of values and also how success was defined. Generally success was equated with money, high visibility, reaching lofty goals, etc. At every age and season of our life, success can be defined or redefined. Many of the kids spoke of personal satisfaction as success. I had some very wise students in those classes. They knew that success was a journey....many of you are young and in your prime. You have gifts and talents to share with the world. We older folks are grateful for your willingness to strive to make your homes, communities and world, better places. Your enthusiasm and willingness to risk is what will make America better and greater. As we slow down in the intensity of our goal setting (mostly because of age); I pray we are dutiful in praying for our young people. Many are educated or in the midst of their education. May we be on their team and pray. May traveling mercies be theirs. May good decisions be theirs. May open as well as shut doors be recognized as good. May their self-esteem be rooted in Jesus the Christ. May love lead the way. 1 Cor. 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Amen.
