I have refused to comment on Buhari being too old until his resent collapsing on the podium in Calabar. MY RESPONSE: Getting Old is not a title, its not a possession, but rather quality in our process of development. Like in every process & quality, there are merits & demerits. Suffice to say that old age comes with the merits of experience, savy, wisdom, virtues of patience & temperanceare added to one of age & yes agility may be lost, but that is different from weakness. The pursuit of vanities & the extremes we go to its attain them is diminished. It is said that the brain takes a certain higher degree of keeness of mind in old age. It is for these & many more reasons we pray for old age & see it as a blessing. How it now becomes a cause for ridicule, I wonder? Yet many want to grow old. Is this the reason life expectancy is 50+? Is this why the aged are abandoned in our society? Is the result not seen in the breakdown of morals, intelligence & wisdom. A people broken away from the past, yet unsure...
