I have remained purposely silent about the recent news regarding law enforcement since I thought what I had to add might be as popular as yelling O-H in the middle of a Wisconsin Pep Rally...However, I feel the need to add a personal touch. I want to not focus on the corruption of some in law enforcement but to focus on one person who gave his entire career to the protect and serve motto...my dad, Arnold VanHorn. I watched him walk out his purpose by; sacrificing holidays including Christmas morning year after year, putting his personal life in danger every day when he went to work, working 12-15 hour days without overtime pay, arresting people who broke the law (including a close friend) because he believed in upholding the law, and treating everyone (including those in a prostitution bust) with complete respect. THAT is the face of law enforcement that I wanted to leave with you because (even though corruption does indeed exist) there are many men/women who sacrifice everything to protect and serve.
