I have seen a lot of clips of Hang Drums popping up lately. It seems to me very much like a steel drum played upsidedown with the hands. Im not sure why steel drum players seem to practice hard and become very skilled, yet nearly all hang drum players seem to coast on the instruments pretty timber and play it in a much more rudimentary manner. I will never understand the point of buying an $8,000 instrument, and then barely learning to play it, as is the case in most of these clips that Ive seen. This is only my personal opinion. Id love to see clips popping up of some of the masterful players of steel pan instruments out there, like this one.
