I have seen so many people crib about the level of customer service in India. For a change I would like to talk about a very pleasant experience I had with a reputed, an established and an upcoming company. And yes I would like to recognize you Amazon, Airtel and Flipkart: Day 1 Morning - Modem stops working. Called Airtel Broadband. The guy promised to come before 6 pm. Day 1 Noon - Airtel guy arrives at 4 pm, even though it had been raining for most part of the day and I wasnt expecting him anymore. He checks it and talks about the need to change modem because basically it had gone kaput. Again, he informs me of 2 options for buying a new modem from Airtel, and yet does not hesitate from suggesting other cheaper and better options available in market. Day 1 Evening - Use 3G connection to order a modem from Flipkart, and choose 24 hr delivery - Cash on Delivery of course. Day 1 Night - Realize that I had given office address for delivery and it would be a Sunday. Call up Flipkart customer care who changes my delivery address in less than 2 minutes, no question asked. Day 2 Morning - Realize I ordered wireless router and not a wireless ADSL modem N router. Go to Flipkart and cancel the order. Again, no questions asked and in 5 seconds from cancellation, received a confirmation sms Day 2 Noon - Compare modem prices on Amazon and Flipkart and order a cheaper model from Amazon, again with 24 hour delivery option Day 3 Noon - Modem is delivered in 18 hours. Just needs to be connected Day 3 - 3 am - Back from office to realize I dont know the password to ADSL link connection. Call up Airtel, guy confirms my identity and gives me the password. And Voila! I am back. The entire experience I had makes me wonder if we have finally arrived in an era where servicing customers and fulfiling their whims and tolerating their stupidities has become a way for companies to make them ever loyal, and whether we are appreciating that effort enough.
