I have this dream of how Midnight Madness should look...and feel. - TopicsExpress

I have this dream of how Midnight Madness should look...and feel. First, it would be on a Saturday...not a Friday. The shiftworkers could enjoy it with their families, and half the town might not cruise off to PG that weekend. It would be a weekend event...not just an insane, impersonal shopping craze till midnight one night. It would be more charming & quaint and it would smell of pine boughs & apple cider. There would be carolers on the street corners, and elves with real jingle bells handing out candy canes & cocoa to the kids Barb Penner. The streets would be closed to traffic because theyd be full of street vendors selling their homemade gifts & baking. Richard Wruth would have the scent of cinnamon wafting from that donut machine. Bonnie Lousier Fawcett would be escorting seniors to the stores by draft horse drawn carriages. Kevin Moutray would set up that very cool bandstand in front of CIBC, and the townsfolk would linger on haybales listening to the local talents of Karen Cruise & The Rusty Bucket Pluckers. The craft fairs & the Santas Anonymous Brunch would be on this weekend too. There would be a teddy bear toss hockey game like there used to be. Someone would set up a Santas Workshop, (daycare...like they have at IKEA) so the parents can get some shopping done for an hour or two. Think snow golf, a snowman building contest, a month-long Christmas light tour with a map for the out of town visitors (who would FLOCK here by the way) to drive around and see all the beautifully decorated houses. The museum could be lit up and give tours & tea. Ferland Park could be lit up too...PRETTTY!!! Yes...it MIGHT be -30. But NO...the sky will not fall....But...Pixie Dust might fall from it, right Leslie Lesley Chaisson? Anyways, Im just posting this here, because I know there are other people that have the same vision, and Im curious what kind of community support there would be to move forward with this idea?
