Well, time for a reach back. Before the Maytag Man we used Soap Stone Sinks, Clothes Wringers and Clothes Lines. Our soap stone was to the left of the kitchen sink(in better shape than this one) and covered with a wooden top when not in use. The wringer was detachable and lived under the sink. The clothes line was strung from the back porch to the garage door frame. We thought it was a big deal when my Dad and I installed the Clothes Tree. Let me tell you, hanging clothes out to dry in the winter was awful. It if were too cold, they were dried indoors. It wasnt till after the War that Mom got a Washer, but it still had a Wringer. dgb...
