I have this sweet giant lab mix my boyfriend brought home. He looked to be neglected and starving. Im having trouble getting him to eat. He will eat whenever but only a small amount. He doesnt have much for teeth on both sides. I have tried giving him the good soft moist food and he refuses to eat it. He is eating real small hard kibble. I have been mixing milk with it to see if it will encourage him to eat more but its still just small amounts. He doesnt seem to be gaining weight. He needs to be fixed and I know that will help some but until a spay and neuter clinic is near Wolf Point where I live, can anyone give me some hints as to how to get him to eat and gain weight. His ribs and backbone show. I have taken him to the vet and he has been dewormed and they think he is roughly a year and a half.
