I have thought for long that the conflict in Mandera is fuelled by people from outside the county whose primary aim is to tarnish the image of the county government and destabilise it. A story in The Star today reproduced below exposes that fact. The claims in the story that the Garre elite are a Mafia network and a militia with an iron grip on the business and political sectors, as well as policing, Intelligence and administration, is fuelling instability and insecurity in a manner not to be found anywhere else in Kenya is outrageous and provocative. Its time the people of Mandeta stood up against these falsehoods intended to incite conflicts between residents of the county.
