I have thoughts on the story of NFL bullying of Martin by fellow O lineman Ingognito. First off, I have been around NFL locker rooms before, i was a ball boy with the cowboys during their training camp in 1993 and i saw the inside stuff that goes on in locker rooms. Normal teasing and hazing goes on with rookies and younger players. But I got the vibe that what Martin was getting was worst than normal hazing. You cant ask former players or coaches, who go by the baloney ultra Alpha Male attitude that you toughen up and punch someone in the mouth that talks down to you. They are neandrathals. What needs to happen is a culture change in team sports, that allows people to be themselves, and accepting them for who they are, not some non existent fantasy manly tough man that players try to live up to. With concussion sydrome and stories like this rampant it makes me feel guilty for even enjoying this sport that if not be careful will go away or cease to be relevant in the near future...
