I have to admit, finally, that we got stuck in the sand dunes in Monument Valley during our week long jaunt across the rez last week. The sand was still wet underneath and I think that made it softer. Just too many rez roads criss cross and I took the wrong one even though there was a tourist truck not too far ahead. I realized my mistake and tried to make a sharp turn on a slight incline. I turned the 4 wheel switch on and it failed. Had to dig out a couple of times but as soon as I turned the wheels it just dug in. Both times the 4 wheel switch failed. A tourist truck stopped by and the Japanese tourist all got off to take pictures. I asked the driver, in Navajo, no picture taking of the stuck Navajos. He got a belly laugh out of that. They left and dug ourselves out again. I turned the 4 wheel switch and it turned on, woohoo, I put the truck in gear and got out effortlessly...........amazing. Just to be on the safe side I left the 4 wheel switch on till we crossed the little creek, after that it was smooth sailing. Good night.
