I have to raise up praise for my dear friend Lisa Allen and her husband Dan! Last Night was our PTA Carnival, and it was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! Lisa has put her heart and soul into this project since JANUARY! She compiled a list of businesses to contact for donations for an amazing basket raffle, she organized the most wonderful carnival games for our children! The concession stand menu she brainstormed was a TOTAL YUMMY WIN from the cotton candy to the snow cones to the popcorn to the walking tacos to the nachos to the candy to the hot dogs! The decorations were totally out of this world including her idea to have a decorating contest that generated several hundred dollars for our students!! Lisa is humble; she did everything our of love for her children and the children of Horace Mann Elementary... our little school would be lost without her loving devotion. She is not even an officer of Horace Mann Elementary PTA ... and yet her unbelievable dedication and devotion to our school is like no other parent in our school!! When I say she...I also should say he, because Dan is right beside her, helping her with everything. He took days off of work to help with this event! He worked continuously on making wooden boards for our games, that they are donating--by the way-- to our school! He made countless runs to bring everything to the school that the 2 of them had gathered for this event! They have donated so so so much of their time, their energy, their creative and financial resources, their loving devotion, and their dedication to our school. Horace Mann is beyond blessed... I am speechless and in awe of this familys contribution to our school! AND YET THEY REMAIN HUMBLE... THEY DO NOT TRY TO TAKE CREDIT... DO NOT TRY TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THEIR AMAZING EVENT... AND THEY DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO ACCEPT THE THANKS AND APPRECIATION THAT THEY SO MUCH DESERVE.... Might all of us as Horace Mann Elementary PTA parents and people of our community be inspired by Lisa Allen and her family to become willing servers and willing volunteers yet staying humble enough to work as a team... may we all serve for the purpose of giving not the purpose of taking credit...
