Wage protection law: Private schools next to face the music | Arab News — Saudi Arabia News,... The Ministry of Labor has stopped its electronic services to 138 big companies that have a work force of more than 3,000 for not complying with the wage protection law. “The same measures will be taken against all private schools next week regardless of the school’s size or number of its workers,” the ministry said. The second stage will cover establishments with 2,000 or more workers, and the first stage of implementation came into effect last Sunday. The regulation was announced last June. The procedures will be applied to private schools next week regardless of the school’s size or the number of workers employed, the ministry said. Labor Minister Adel Fakeih said the regulation is aimed at promoting conducive work environment and protecting workers’ rights. As stipulated in the law, establishments that fail to provide their employees’ wage data for two months from the date of implementation of the regulation would be denied all services except issuance or renewal of work permits. Companies that fail to provide the required information for three months would be denied all services without exemption except allowing their employees to transfer their services to other establishments without the approval of their original employer (the violating firm). All private firms are required to provide the ministry with bank data showing the monthly wage payments of their Saudi and non-Saudi employees through the ministry’s online portal. The program’s implementation is divided into three stages with each stage covering a certain classification of establishments. Implementation of each stage is separated by three months so as to give all establishments an opportunity to register with the online portal and correct their status before they come under the scanner. The program is aimed at creating an up-to-date database of payments of private sector employees as per the contract between the company and the employee and the data will be compared with the contract data already filed with the ministry...
