The reason we feel pressure to conform to the ways of our peers is - TopicsExpress

The reason we feel pressure to conform to the ways of our peers is deep down we assume that the ways of our peers are superior to our own ways. This assumption has no rational basis; it only persists because human psychology is highly susceptible to group-think. Overcoming this assumption is to realize our true position in relation to those around us. We have to realize that we are all living, breathing, and defecating human beings, so we are all capable of the same things. This realization means, since I am equally capable of finding the right way just as everyone else, there is no reason to assume that everyone else has figured out the right way except for me. If this is the case, then there is no reason for me to give following the ways of others any precedence over following my own ways. There is no reason to feel pressured into following the ways of others. -Random part from my book in 10 years
