I have to say I am still loyal to and will always love the Marine - TopicsExpress

I have to say I am still loyal to and will always love the Marine Corps Marathon but circumstances with Vicki and I trying to see Erik in Germany this Fall caused us to seek an alternative run. What a difference, the St George Marathon was, simply put, was Wonderful! It started with the Expo organization (no long lines and masses of people, easy parking, easy to find, and lots of great vendors), the transportation to the start line (very friendly volunteers and bus drivers which in and of it self at 3:30 a.m. is remarkable), the accommodations at the starting line (I was there at 4:30 a.m.) the wonderful people and runners, volunteers, spectators, no lines to anything including port-a-potties (having them at most aid stations), and the space blankets saved our lives. During the race the aid stations that had fruit, Gatorade, water, Cliff Bars and Shot Blocks, I saw people rubbing stuff on runners legs (did not dare try it I do not like people touching me), ice cold and very wet washcloths at around mile 22 that were Celestial (degree 1), and the residents of St George were simply wonderful (I love low fiveing the little kids that were holding their hands out all along the course). I cannot even begin to describe the Finish Line Area (I only took a water and a chocolate milk) but they had a feast meant for gods. Information Booth even lent me a personal phone to call Vicki. Then running with McKay (we were registered as a team) even though I never saw him, I mean how can you see lightning form mortal eyes??? But talking to prior and after the race was great. The Marathon was nothing less than absolutely wonderful. Thank you St George and everyone that made it possible.
