I have to say this....even if I am never approved as a volunteer......there are so many dogs there that could be real lovers....ones that people would want to adopt...if those in authority would get on the ball and get the volunteers trained.....have a solid program to get the dogs (considered RED) socialized.....not just the easy one! I have been trying to get in there to volunteer for about 5 months. I want to work with the dogs to help them be more family friendly....I am told there is an extensive waiting list to VOLUNTEER???? Whats up with that? If you need more people to train then that needs to be addressed. I know that there are only a few people that can even walk the RED dogs......I have been there when Lee and maybe one or two others were walking dogs.......these dogs need out...need socialized...need to be loved on..... A wonderful pit mix was euthanized yesterday.....his face was never put on fb to advertise what a great dog he would have made.,,,,, he was a RED dog so he was not walked like the other ones...and then ended up with kennel rage......what a very sad way for a dog to end. I spent about an hour with him the day before he was killed.....he loved chasing the tennis ball....getting the toys.....he would run up and just let me pet, hug and love one him.....this is the 2nd dog that I am aware of that this has happened to....ones that should have had a better outcome......
