I have to say this now, before people let the wrong ideas go to their head over this matter. Theres some fluff going on in the insidious corners of Dreamworks & their creative studios, & a live-action of Ghost in the Shell is being illicitly conceived with a lot of money & Scarlett Johanssons name, because shes the go-to gal of action heroines, apparently. Even some feministas have been riled up because of its Americanisation, like this snowflake of an article writer. escapistmagazine/articles/view/moviesandtv/12837-Scarlett-Johansson-s-Ghost-in-the-Shell-Casting Although, if we look at the case of Oldboy (not anime, but bear with me) anyone who watched the original wouldve seen that a redux was in the make for 2013, & I assume with what little faith I have for mankinds rationality that none of them were interested in being told the same story twice. Anime & Manga fans of Ireland, thats the outlook that needs to be promoted & preserved for the sake of our community, as this entire matter & whatever people will try to make of it is nothing but a mainstream western media franchise trying to cash in on what I consider the superb craftsmanship & storytelling that were already acquainted with. Ill boycott this, & it has nothing to do with the acting abilities of whoever they may try to hire that makes me do so. (I mean, theyre actors & actresses, for gods sake, theres always gonna be another job for them, especially if theyre photogenic) Simply the lack of creative vision on their part, this copy/pasting excuse for storytelling, is reason enough for me. I hate the idea of campaigning, in every circumstance Ive seen of it whoever starts it ends up with an inflated head of egoism. But Im against this film being promoted as something to look forward to, & I can only plead with whoevers willing to read this bloody essay of mine to do the same on every front. I mean, honestly, how many common mongoloids do you think were behind the financial success of inherently boring & woeful films over the past few years that tried to cash in on geek culture, & do you honestly think its a trend that needs to continue in filmmaking?
