I have to share this with you - in particular the J&J DePuy - TopicsExpress

I have to share this with you - in particular the J&J DePuy victims. There is an elderly gentleman I know (in his 80s) - who had a hip replacement - about 4/5 yrs ago - he is the only other MoM recipient in my home town. His was performed in Ballarat. He and his wife were regular customers of mine - when I still had my business. They knew the problems I was having with my right hip (BHR) and I suggested he find out from his surgeon, if his was a regular or MoM hip. It was a J&J DePuy. He is not having any problems, but has high levels of c/c. I happened to see him today in town, and we started to chat. He told me had recently been to see his surgeon - and was told - his c/c levels were not high enough to do a revision. I know that this is what he wants to be told, I think because of his age he is worried about having a revision. My worry is - how many other MoMs have been done by this surgeon, and what is considered not a high enough level of c/c - anything above normal levels is unacceptable. If he happens to die in the next few years - will they investigate to see whether metallosis was a cause or put it down to natural causes. I know his wife is very concerned, and discusses all this with me - but I cannot tell him it needs to be taken out.......
