I have tried so hard not to weigh in on this but quite frankly I am so sick of hearing it and want to give others something to think about. I realize that I may be unfriended by some and if so I wish you all the best. First let me start by stating that I have family members, co workers and friends who are African American in case you think I am being racist you couldnt be farther from the truth! I have read and heard a lot of cop bashing. Posts that peg every cop as a bad cop that goes around killing African american, brown or people of color. Youre stereotyping and many are the same people (not necessarily all on Facebook and not aimed at anyone in particular) who advocate against stereotyping people who live in poverty or homeless as lazy bums taking advantage of the system and taxpayers. Think about it that is an incorrect assumption so why would you go and peg another another population like that? I mean seriously you are doing the same thing here. Maybe someone had a bad experience with a cop..well maybe someone had a bad experience with a homeless person! YOU CANNOT JUDGE AN ENTIRE POPULATION BY A FEW BAD SEEDS!! NONE and I mean NONE of use were there! We do not know every single thing that happened! If he indeed wrestled with the cop and reached for his gun that officer had EVERY right to defend himself and if that were me I would acted the same way I dont care if you are black, white, green, purple, Chinese, Christian, Muslim I dont care if it comes down to my life or your life you will lose! I will need therapy afterwards for years because the thought of even hurting someone messes me up but we have a right to defend ourselves. Where are all the riots when there is black on black crime? What about when a black cop shoots a white kid? Just trying to give others something to think about. Theres crooked people in every occupation, religion, gender and culture you cant label the entire population for that. I have a Baltimore city cop friend who is one of the NICEST, funniest and kindest men I know and it drives me crazy that he is labeled bad from society. We have no idea what they go through to serve and protect! His wife worries every night if he will come home or not. They have families they need to get home to. You want to protest then protest to mend the divide in this country through peaceful activism and education! Protest PEACEFULLY that we join together as brothers and sisters instead of burning down innocent businesses, assaulting others or blocking traffic of those who are trying to make an honest living or get to loved ones! Be an example of Gods love not Satans hatred! Respect the familys plea for peace! Stop with the anger and hatred displays of rioting and destruction even verbal destruction. And yes I know that just a year ago I was the angry one over an unjust society for those in poverty and homeless and you know what? It made me hard it made me cold and gave me a whole world of medical and mental health issues so I pulled back an tried to look at it from a different view. I am not asking or telling anymore not to feel the anger for either side I am saying dont make the same mistakes I have made in the past and let it eat you use that energy in a positive loving way.
